J.B. is an award-winning journalist and author who co-wrote, with Alisa Smith, The 100-Mile Diet/Plenty (Canada/U.S. titles), a 2007 bestseller that helped catalyze the local foods movement. He was also a collborator on I Live Here, a “paper documentary” about displaced people, which had the unusual honour of being a top pick for 2008 from both the Bloomsbury Literary Review and Comic Book Resources. As a journalist, he is senior contributing editor to Canada’s national outdoors magazine, Explore, and his freelance work can be found in a variety of magazines. Since 2005, he has not had a single year where he spent more than 50 percent of his days at home in Vancouver, but it might just happen this year.
